소반의 쓰임을 확장하다
좌식문화가 줄고 입식문화가 증가한 현대사회에서 소반의 쓰임은 줄어들고 있습니다. 문인영 도예가는 이런 소반을 도자로 만들며 새로운 쓰임을 부여했습니다. 단순히 목가구를 도자로만 만드는 게 아닌, 소반의 선과 느낌을 살리기 위해 ‘판작업’ 방식을 고집합니다. 또한, 음식을 담는다는 쓰임도 유지합니다. 팔각소반에 다과나 디저트 등을 담아 새로운 소반 문화를 즐겨보세요.
Expanding the Use of Soban
Today, where sedentary culture has decreased and standing culture has increased, the use of soban(traditional dining table) is decreasing. In-young Moon has given these sobans a new use by making them into ceramics. Instead of simply making wooden furniture out of ceramics, she uses the 'clayboard bonding' method to keep the lines and feel of the soban alive. It also retains the use of putting food. Enjoy the new soban culture by putting desserts on this octagonal soban.

문인영 도예가는 전통 물레 방식과 판작업을 고수하고 있습니다. 모든 면을 판을 밀어 조각하는 제작과정은 절대 쉽지 않고 건조 시간도 매우 깁니다. 건조까지 끝난 후, 가마에 들어가도 50%도 살아남기 힘들죠. 이렇게 긴 시간을 거쳐 세상으로 나온 도자들이 여러분의 공간을 채우고 즐기며 위로를 건넬 수 있는 힐링 오브제가 되기를 바랍니다.

In-young Mun uses the traditional potter's wheel and clayboard bonding method. The process of carving by pushing the clayboard bonding on all sides is not easy and the drying time is very long. Even after drying, less than 50% of the pieces survive the kiln. We hope that the ceramics that have gone through such a long process will become healing objects that can fill your space and bring you comfort.
History
필수 살림살이였던 소반
예로부터 목가구는 중요한 살림살이였습니다. 그중 소반은 식기를 받치거나 음식을 먹을 때 쓰는 작은 상으로 계층을 막론하고 널리 쓰였습니다. 서양과는 달리 음식을 조리한 후 방으로 옮겨와 먹어야 했기에 더욱 많이 쓰였죠. 고구려 고분벽화에서 사족반과 원형 삼족반을 볼 수 있어 소반의 역사는 상당히 오래된 것으로 추정됩니다.
소반은 지역색이 뚜렷한데 특히 황해도 해주, 전남 나주, 경남 통영이 유명합니다. 해주반은 각종 문양을 화려하게 판각(板刻)한 다리가 돋보이고, 나주식 소반은 간결하지만 목재의 활용도가 높아 판이 두껍고 튼튼합니다. 통영반은 다리에 지지대가 있어 튼튼하고, 나전칠기가 발달해 다양한 자개 문양이 장식되기도 합니다.
Soban, an essential piece of furniture
Since ancient times, wooden furniture has been an important part of daily life. Among them, soban, a small table used to put and eat food, was widely used regardless of class. Unlike in the West, food had to be cooked and brought into the room to be eaten, so it was used even more. The history of soban is thought to be quite old, as we can see soban in Goguryeo murals.
Soban has distinct local character, especially in Haeju(Hwanghae-do), Naju(Jeonnam), and Tongyeong(Gyeongnam). Haeju's soban stands out for its ornately carved legs with various patterns, while Naju's soban is simpler, but the plates are very thicker and stronger. Tongyeong’s soban is sturdy because it has supports on the legs, and is often decorated with various Jagye(mother-of-pearl) patterns due to its advanced Najeon-chilgi(mother-of-pearl lacquerware from Korea)
