한국 전통 사탕 ‘옥춘’에서 영감을 받은 러그
옥춘(玉春) 사탕은 아름다운 구슬과 화사한 봄의 뜻을 가진 사탕으로, 주로 큰 잔치나 좋은날을 밝혀주는 장식으로 쓰였습니다. 이는 조상이나 좋은 분들이 오시는 길을 환하게 밝혀 등불이 되어준다는 의미입니다. 사랑하는 이들의 매일이 화사한 봄이길 바라는 마음으로 옥춘 러그를 제작했습니다.
Rugs inspired by the traditional Korean candy Okchun
Okchun(Traditional Korean candy made with rice flour, malt and colorful saekdong color) with its beautiful beads and bright spring colors, was often used to decorate a big feast or a good day. It is said to be a beacon to light the way for ancestors and good people. We created the Okchun rug with the hope that every day will be a bright spring for our loved ones.

STUDIO ARROC is a brand that acts with philosophy “Feel happy while enjoying the beautiful Korean tradition.” She searches for traditions that she has encountered and enjoyed since childhood, but has not realized the beauty of because they are hidden in everyday life, and reinterprets them with her own sensibility, hand-tufting and hand-sewing them.
History
환하게 밝혀주는 옥춘
옥춘의 기원은 정확하지 않으나, 조선시대 기록을 꽤 찾을 수 있습니다. 숙종 45년(1719) 경현당에서 연행된 진연의궤 기록, 광무 6년(1902)의 진연의궤 기록 등에서 옥춘당(玉春糖)이 나옵니다. 『일성록』에 따르면, 정조 19년(1795)에는 혜경궁 홍씨의 진찬에 옥춘을 6치(약 18cm) 높이로 쌓았다고도 합니다. 이처럼 옥춘은 즐거운 날 큰 잔치에 올리거나, 조상님이 오시는 길을 환하게 비춘다고 해 제사상에도 많이 올렸습니다.
Okchun welcomes ancestors with joy
The origin of Okchun is not precise, but there are quite a few records from the Joseon Dynasty. In the records of the Jinyeon(A feast held at court whenever there is an auspicious day in the country.) arrested at Gyeonghyeondang in the 45th year of King Sukjong(1719), and the Jinyeon in the 6th year of King Gwangmu(1902), Okchun is mentioned. In the 19th year of King Jeongjo(1795), Okchun was piled 18cm high in the royal performance of Hyegyeonggung Hong Palace. As such, Okchun was often served at large feasts and in rituals, as it was said to brighten the path of ancestors.
