Jeong-duk Lee, Bangjja Brassware Master Artisan
Jeong-duk Lee is a master craftman who continues the tradion of Joseon Dinasty ‘yujang’(The art of working with brass to make varioys objects and the craftmans who work in it.)in the modern era. In 2011, he was designated as a Jeonbuk Intangible Cultural Heritage Bangjja Brassware holder.
His instruments, such as the ‘singing ball’, ‘kkwaenggwari’, and ‘jing’ are beloved by many performers, including the National Gukak(Korean traditional music) academy and Deok-soo Kim Samulnori Instrumental Music. And his works combine high artistic value and practicality by reinterpreting tradional techniques with a modern twist.

옛 문헌에 싱잉볼은 경(磬), 경자(磬子)라는 용어로 등장합니다. 고려 싱잉볼은 기술력이 뛰어나 역수출되기도 했죠.
남송시대 상인수첩 [백보총진집]을 보면 “싱잉볼은 크고 작음을 막론하고 고려동이 제일이다.” 라는 표현을 써서 극찬합니다. 조선시대 세종 때는 일본 사신이 금속을 가져와 싱잉볼을 바꿔 달라는 기록까지 있을 정도입니다.
세계유일의 한국만의 유기 합금 비율인 구리 78% : 주석 22%는 구리임에도 빼어난 금빛을 내는 심미성은 물론 뛰어난 살균력으로 탁월한 기능성을 갖춥니다.

Singing balls appear in ancient texts under the terms ‘Gyeong(磬)’ and ‘Gyeongja(磬子)’. Goryeo singing balls were so technologically advanced that they were exported back to Korea.
In the Southern Song Dynasty merchant's notebook [Baekbochongjinjip], “Singing balls, whether big or small, Goryeo is the best.” and praises it. During the Joseon Dynasty, King Sejong even recorded that a Japanese envoy brought metal to replace the singing balls.
Korea's unique organic alloy ratio of 78% copper : 22% tin, the only one of its kind in the world, is not only aesthetically pleasing with its golden color despite being copper, but also highly functional with its excellent sterilizing power.
