운무가 휘감은 산의 경치를 담다
안개와 구름이 감싼 산세가 떠오르는 그릇 세트로, 백토물에 담갔다가 꺼내는 전통적인 덤벙 기법으로 만들었습니다. 덤벙 기법의 과정은 사람의 손길과 자연의 조화로운 파동을 그릇에 담아내고, 은은한 유광은 식탁 위를 한층 더 빛나게 합니다.
Capturing the misty mountain scenery
A set of bowls evoking mountain scenes with mist and clouds, made using the traditional dumbung technique of dipping(splashing) in and out of white clay. The process of dumbung captures the harmonious ripples of man's hand and nature in the bowls, while the subtle glaze enhances the tabletop.

‘사리요’라는 이름은 어릴적부터 찾아뵙던 스님이 불러주시던 동생의 별칭 ‘사리’에서 유래했습니다. 오랜 수행 끝에 열반한 부처의 화장터에서 사리가 나오듯, 장작으로 뜨겁게 달궈진 가마 속에서 근사한 도자가 탄생한다는 의미입니다. 투박하고 자연스러운 분청부터 세밀하고 밀도있는 청자까지 손맛을 담아 작업합니다.

The name of the workshop 'Sariyo' comes from my brother's nickname, 'Sari', given to him by the monk he visited as a child. Just as a sari emerges from the crematorium of an enlightened Buddha after many years of practice, so too does a beautiful piece of pottery emerge from a kiln heated by firewood. From rustic, natural Buncheong ceramics to fine, dense Cheongja(celadon), each piece is handcrafted with care.
History
자유분방하고 소탈한 멋의 분청사기
분청사기는 조선시대에 고려청자를 바탕으로 새로운 문양과 기법이 적용되며 발전했습니다. 상감청자의 기법과 형식을 계승했지만, 지역성이 뚜렷하고 격식에 얽매이지 않은 자유분방한 멋이 특징입니다. 백토를 긁어 만든 박지(剝地), 철사 안료로 문양을 그리는 철화(鐵畵), 귀얄로 분장을 한 귀얄기법, 백토물에 담가 빼내는 덤벙기법 등으로 소탈하면서 역동적인 분위기를 보여줍니다.
Buncheong, a free-spirited and unpretentious style
Buncheong developed during the Joseon Dynasty with new patterns and techniques based on Goryeo celadon. Although it inherited the techniques and forms of Goryeo’s Sangam celadon, it is characterized by a distinctly regional and raffish style. It is characterized by a rustic and dynamic atmosphere, with techniques such as bakji(剝地, made by scraping white clay), cheolhwa(鐵畵, uses iron pigment to draw patterns), gwiyal(refers to a decorative technique of applying white slip over the surface of a bowl using a brush called a gwiyal, which was made of pig or horsehair), and dumbung(involves dipping a clay vessel in a white slip clay)
