고대부터 우리와 함께 빛나온 유리
우리나라는 초기철기부터 차차 유리가 만들어진 것으로 보입니다. 중동에서 제작된 유리가 넘어오거나, 그 기술이 중국을 거쳐 신라로 넘어온 것이죠. 특히, 그릇이나 병 등을 만드는 데 주로 쓰인 대롱불기 기법은 기원전 1세기 무렵 시작해 퍼져나갔습니다. 반짝이던 유리의 인기는 고려청자, 조선백자 등 도자기의 흥행이 시작되면서 주춤하기도 했지만, 1960년대 근대화 이후 다시 대중화되기 시작했습니다.

Glass seems to have been made in Korea since the early Iron Age. Glass made in the Middle East was brought over, or the technology was brought to Silla from China. In particular, the Daerong Bulgi(blowing) technique, which was mainly used to make bowls and bottles, began to spread around the 1st century BC. The popularity of shiny glass waned with the rise of ceramics such as Goryeo celadon and Joseon white porcelain, but it became popular again after modernization in the 1960s.
